Vincent Price BAT

Any movie geek will tell you that Vincent Price was truly one of the great icons of the horror genre. Although he wasn't limited to the horror genre, his spooky filmography ranges from cult classics to Edgar Allan Poe adaptations. He was a master of his craft and his very presence in any project added class and suave. He has inspired great filmmakers such as Tim Burton and John Waters. I was inspired to make this print simply because Vincent Price films bring me so much joy....even in the macabre! The design for this print is inspired by a publicity still for the 1959 horror/mystery movie "The Bat" but I think it captures all of the spookiness of many of my favourite horror and gothic films.

The print:

This is an original 2 colour linoprint. These prints are made from a hand-carved linoleum print block and are all pressed by hand using a baren and wooden spoon. I used graphic black oil-based relief printmaking ink. After the print is dried, I hand-embellished the image using a red archival ink.
The print size is 5" x 7" on 8" x 10" natural white, lightweight 120 g/m acid-free paper. This is an open edition print. Each print is numbered, titled "BAT" and signed on the front side.

Each print will be shipped with a backing board, wrapped in plastic and enclosed in a hard mailer.
